Hi 👋, and welcome to my website, we are very glad you're here.
As you've surely guessed by now, my name is Christian Stromberger. I'm originally from Austin, TX, where I attended the Liberal Arts and Science Academy. I attended the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California for my undergraduate degree, where I studied mechanical engineering and minored in computer science. Within mechanical engineering, I focused on robotics, with my capstone project being to create two sumo-wrestling robots from the ground up (one wheeled bot that could fight autonomously and one that had legs) with a team of 6 friends, only 16 weeks, and a budget of $1200. Beyond that, I focused a lot on my research in Richard Murray's lab, where I was project lead developing a model-free algoirthm for autonomous failure detection and recovery. The key was recovering from failure without the use of redundant parts (like a spare wheel on a car) by reconfiguring the system's controller online.
Following my love of robots, I am currently a master's student at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor (Go Blue!), where I am pursing a MS degree in robotics. That means I get to take all robotics classes, do research in a robotics lab (ROAHM Lab), and generally think about robots all day from 9am to 5pm. I love it.
If you want to learn more about any of my projects, feel free to look around!
